Schedule An Appointment Request Tracy R. Ray, M.D. With a background in primary care and sports medicine, Tracy R. Ray, M.D., manages a wide range of nonoperative orthopaedic and sports medicine injuries. His research interests include the female athlete, nutritional supplements and current inadequacies of muskuloskeletal training in primary care residency programs. Dr. Ray serves as an assistant clinical professor and director of the Medical Aspects of Sports/Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship Program at the American Sports Medicine Institute (ASMI). Dr. Ray graduated from Berry College in Rome, Georgia, with a bachelor of science degree in chemistry in 1985. His education continued at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, where he graduated in 1993. After completing his residency in 1996 at the University of Alabama, he served a primary care sports medicine fellowship in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Ray is a diplomate of the American Board of Family Practice with a Certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine. His memberships in various medical organizations and societies include the American College of Sports Medicine, American Academy of Family Practice and the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine - Public Relations Committee. He also serves as team physician for Birmingham-Southern College. Dr. Ray and his wife, De' Ette, have three children: Rachel, Rebekah and Daniel. In his free time, Dr. Ray enjoys golf, tennis, fishing and hunting. He has also traveled overseas on medical missions to West Africa, Togo, Honduras and Nicaragua.
